The fictional Peaky Blinders TV series was based on an actual gang with the same name in Birmingham, England. As the historian and author of The Real Peaky Blinders (Carl Chinn) revealed, the key difference between the fictional and actual gang is timing. While the fictionalized series was set in the 1920s, the actual one operated in the 1890s.
